Occupying an Empty Space

Edwin Jacobs occupied the empty space of the Central Museum in the city of Utrecht. Jacobs recycled the parts of a previous installation to assemble this new exhibit. The new work titled Pretty Vacant aimed highlight the, "intersection between work and art." You can see the unique qualities of each piece as the wall is being constructed below. The shape of the blue facade matches the flanking windows and brings the intent of the architect into view. It can be difficult to see the shape of nothing but Pretty Vacant does well to bring the void into focus. You can read more about the project (in Dutch) here.
