Leaving the Best Job I Ever Had

Yesterday we announced to our church that Bria and I will be leaving Evergreen. Our time serving as children pastors in Olympia will end on August 9th. This has been the best year of my life. We have spent the past fourteen months working with some amazing families and inspiring staff. We have discovered true friendships and enjoyed the company of our neighbors in Tumwater. My daughter may remember Evergreen as her first church and will continue to look forward to hanging out with Brody and the rest of her friends. The crafts she made on Sunday will be kept as treasures in a closet somewhere for years to come. Our son was born here and we will always remember the generosity shone us as we adjusted to live with two children. We were encouraged as pastors here and will always be indebeted to the leadership of Jim, Abe, Andy and Cindy. Evergreen has felt like home from day one but we have been called to a new home.

Yesterday we announced to our church that Bria and I will begin to serve as our Network Children's Ministry Directors.

We have been asked by Les Welk and his team to serve a network of churches in the Pacific Northwest. This is the same network that has walked me through ministry sense I was a young boy. It was at a kids camp hosted by the Northwest Ministry Network where I was called to ministry. And it was in one of the network churches where I preached for the first time. It is an honor to be invited and we humbly accepted. We will take the post of Kevin Geer who has gone on to lead a church in Kalispell Montana. He leaves behind a legacy of thoughtful leadership and dear friendships. It is exciting to have the opportunity to carry the baton during this next leg of the journey. I am excited to see God work among the children pastors of our network.

Brent Colby

Brent trains leaders throughout the Pacific Northwest and is on staff at Evergreen Christian Community in Olympia Washington.
