Failing Four Times
Diana Nyad attempted to swim from Cuba to Florida four times and four times she failed. This weekend she set to do the impossible one more. At the age of 64, and after more than 53 hours in the water, she completed the epic course. How many times do you fail before giving up? Once, twice, maybe three times if you are persistent? I can't imagine what was going on in her mind when she stepped into that water for the fifth time. What would make this time any different? She didn't have a good start, she didn't have fun. In an interview with CNN Diana says, "You don't like it. It's not doing well. Find a way."
Find a way.
The thing that Diana did have was focus. And that focus was centered on a single purpose: to swim the channel between Cuba and Florida. Congratulations to her and a challenge to me! What things have I dropped after one failed attempt? Perhaps it is time for me to pick it up again and have another go.
